# Warnings

This is different from de-escalating warnings in an active chat.

For certain rules broken, a warning may be given; either unofficial or official depending on the severity.

Unofficial warnings do not go towards any ban stacks and are generally a courtesy to those that may deserve the benefit of the doubt.

Giving out warnings requires making a player report ticket

Once you’ve opened the ticket, you’ll want to add the correct user to it.

/add user <@player>

Once the user is added you will need to type out your message, this is generally on the staffs discretion but there are a few guidelines you’d want to follow

* Remain professional and non confrontational
* Describe what you are giving them a warning for and touch base on the rules around it.
* Allow them to ask questions if they have any
* Direct them to make an appeal if they feel the warning is unjust.

Example:

Hello @user I’ve brought you into this ticket to give you an official warning on targeting players, where being a KOS player and revenge killing is not against our rules, going out of your way to seek out players and disrupt their gameplay is against our rules. We have gotten enough evidence to show that you have been targeting \<player> and request that you please refrain from doing so before further punishment is handed out. Let me know if you have any questions otherwise please react or respond to this message so we know you have read and understood the warning.

Once they have concluded that they understand or it’s moved to an appeal you may close the ticket.

When you give out the warning you will also need to add a note to the user describing if it was an official or unofficial warning and what it was for.\
