# Hacker Reports

First thing to do is to ask for any evidence (mainly a recording), if not already provided. If the person doesn’t know how to record, tell them about the in-game F2 recording feature, as well as third-party options such as Steam recording, Medal, etc.

Note that if the file a player provides is a **.demo** file (this is an Isle replay recording via F2), others trying to download and play the file will result in a fatal error 99% of the time, so it is *highly recommended* to tell the person reporting to open up their own demo file (they are ready 30 minutes after recording ends), and record it with third-party software, then post that recording into the ticket.

Unless a hack is very blatant and easy to see, it is recommended to ask for second opinions from other staff (including mods), and there is a channel called hacker support where you can ping @Hacker Support and post the video where trusted volunteers who are knowledgeable of the game can also offer their analysis of the evidence. **Make sure the reported player is not in hacker support!**

Common hacks include damage hacks (increased damage, sometimes insta-kill), range hacks (extended range for hitboxes), and movement / speed (extra fast, sharp turns / dodging out of stuns, basically any unusual movement).

Reports of lagswitching are for Jurd to handle, so don’t take those.

If someone cannot provide video, there isn’t much we can do, unless an admin wants to log onto the game and do some detective work to find the reported player and spec them, or engage in order to gather evidence. If you are unable to get into game use the Alerts channel.

If the person does have video but cannot upload it due to file size and cannot trim it, you can tell them to upload it to a video hosting site like Youtube, or a file sharing site like Dropbox or Google Drive. If they want to show the video to you via voice chat, that is up to you, but make sure to record the video yourself with the snipping tool or any other screen recording software.

If a hacker report results in a ban, make sure to put the evidence in a thread on the ban log so if it is appealed, upper staff can refer to it.

If you / others are unsure of whether hacks are involved (i.e. the evidence isn’t strong enough but is still suspicious), it is recommended to add that player’s Steam id to Alerts, and what to look out for about them.\
\
**Alerts**\
Use control+f and paste the steam id and see if the player was alerted before. If there is no alert found then add an alert with the command below. Upload any video evidence you have in admin commands and copy message link to add to your alert.\
!Alerts - Shows all current alerts\
!addalert \<Steamid> - Reason for alert - Evidence link - Reason why not banned\
!rmalert \<Steamid>
